Cana Village is a proposed village of 500 tiny homes to house our homeless community, but it's so much more! It's a beacon of hope amidst the shadows of homelessness. After serving the homeless community, and those living in extreme poverty, since 2013, the founders of Matthew's Light knew they needed to do more. Cana Village envisions a radical shift in how we approach homelessness - a shift towards community, sustainability and holistic support. But such a radical change requires partnerships with other visionaries. We invited The Kalos Project, who's goal is to revolutionize our food and energy economies, to join us on this venture.
At Cana Village, we understand that homelessness isn't just about lacking a roof over one's head; it's a profound loss of family. Placing a homeless person in a house is merely a temporary fix. What's truly needed is a restoration of that sense of belonging, of support, of purpose. Cana Village aims to be that sanctuary - a place where individuals not only find shelter but rediscover their worth, their potential, their family.
Imagine a community where every tiny home is a stepping stone towards stability and self sufficiency. Cana Village isn't just about providing housing, it's about fostering a culture of empowerment, where residents are supported every step of the way. Through comprehensive services like counseling, job training and social support, we equipt individuals with the tools they need to rebuild their lives.
From permaculture gardens to a community farm, Cana Village will be a lush oasis of greenery and growth. Residents can cultivate their own food, fostering a sense of connection to the land and to each other.
Our on-site restaurant will not only provide career training for our residents, it will showcase the bounty of our gardens, serving up fresh, garden-to-table meals to residents and neighbors alike. By dining with us, you'd not just enjoy a delicious meal, you'd be supporting a vision of sustainability and community empowerment.
From concerts to movies and community gatherings, our amphitheater is the heart of Cana Village's social life. With regular events and performances, we invite neighbors near and far to come together and celebrate the power of community.
You'll be able to experience the vibrant energy of our farmer's market! Residents will be able to sell their excess produce from the community garden aa well as their handmade crafts, while vendors from outside the community can rent booths and bring diverse offerings.
We invite you to be a part of something revolutionary. By joining us at the ground floor of Cana Village, you're not just investing in bricks and mortar; you're investing in the transformative power of community. Together, we can rewrite the narrative of homelessness, one tiny home at a time.
Chronic homelessness isn't just about lacking a house, it's about lacking a home - a place where one feels seen, heard and valued. Without that sense of belonging, individuals are left adrift, vulnerable to the storms of life. Cana Village seeks to be that anchor - a community where every individual is supported, embraced and uplifted.
Whether through partnership, investment, donation, volunteering or simply spreading the word, there are countless ways to support Cana Village and the vision it represents. Together, we can pave the way towards a future where homelessness is not just alleviated, but eradicated.
